SILVER CITY, N.M. (AP) - Western New Mexico University students are set to remember novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
A group of students and writers will gather Tuesday at Student Memorial Center patio on campus to read from Garcia Marquez’s work and to hold a candlelight vigil.
Students also have an option to honor the Colombian-born writer through art, dance or song.
Marquez died at his Mexico City home on April 17. He was 87.
Tributes have been taking place around Latin America in Garcia Marquez’s honor. In Colombia, for example, a musical tribute was held in Bogota and a $100,000 literary prize announced in his name.
