BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A big attempt to rescue small pups is underway in Boise.
More than 70 small-breed dogs arrived in Boise on Monday from overcrowded shelters in Los Angeles with the goal of finding new homes.
A nonprofit organization called Wings of Rescue transported the dogs that are about 20 pounds or less, and a year or older.
Idaho Humane Society spokeswoman Hannah Parpart says dogs available include Chihuahuas, Terriers, poodles, and Shih Tzu mixes.
The dogs will be checked by a veterinarian before being put up for adoption.
Adoptions are planned for Friday through Sunday at the PetSmart Adoption Center near the Boise Towne Square mall.
