JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Entergy Mississippi says about 9,600 customers remained without power at noon Tuesday from a high of 42,937 during Monday’s tornadoes and severe weather.

Robbin Jeter, Entergy’s vice president of customer service, says the majority of the remaining outages are in Rankin, Hinds and Warren counties.

The National Weather Service expected more severe storms Tuesday.

Ron Stewart, senior vice president of the Electric Power Associations of Mississippi, says 17,000 meters were without service Tuesday. He says at the height of Monday’s storms 37,800 meters lost power, mostly in central and north Mississippi.

Tennessee Valley Authority spokesman Chris Stanley says the company is repairing transmission lines in the Tupelo area damaged from the storm. He says repairs to those lines with allow local utilities to get power restored.
