TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Jury selection will continue in the trial of a Tampa mom accused of killing her two teenagers.

Julie Schenecker is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Prosecutors, Schenecker’s defense attorneys and Hillsborough County Judge Emmett Battles questioned dozens of potential jurors on Monday. More potential jurors will be called Tuesday.

When asked to stand if they had at least heard something about the case prior to Monday, nearly nine out of 10 prospective jurors got up.

Police say Schenecker shot her 13-year-old son twice in the head for talking back and shot her 16-year-old daughter in the face as she studied.

Schenecker’s attorneys plan on using an insanity defense, saying the mother and military wife suffered from profound mental illness.

Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty.
