INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A man accused of possessing homemade explosives is scheduled to stand trial July 21.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports (https://bit.ly/1iytcZm ) that Franz Corvette Costello of Evansville is facing charges that he was constructing explosive devices. He also faces drug charges. Costello could face up to 80 years in prison if convicted.

Evansville police searched Costello’s home March 19 after receiving a tip that he was constructing bombs and had threatened to kill an officer. Police say they discovered three devices they identified as homemade grenades packed with screws, lead shot and gunpowder.

Costello also faces six felony charges in a separate case. Police say they found him in possession of meth-making materials in February.

Costello remained jailed Monday night. It isn’t clear whether he has a lawyer.
