HAMMOND, La. (AP) - A Hammond police officer has been placed on administrative leave following her arrest on allegations of doctor-shopping.

Lt. Vince Giannobile, a department spokesman, tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1fNUlmi ) that 35-year-old Jennifer Gautier, of Hammond, was booked Tuesday with possession of a controlled dangerous substance by fraud. Gautier surrendered and was transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite. It was not known if she had an attorney. Bond information was not available.

According to an investigation by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration’s Tactical Diversion Division, Giannobile says Gautier, a 13-year veteran of the police department, was seeing multiple doctors and received multiple prescriptions for controlled substances.
