CENTERVILLE, Utah (AP) - Students at Centerville’s Viewmont High School are working to save a large hillside letter “V’’ situated on eroding land.

Dirt underneath the 40-year-old local landmark has worn away, raising concerns about the security of the mountainside “V.”

KUTV reports (https://bit.ly/1mStFZc ) Viewmont High students cleared brush around the letter and reinforced the base.

They’re also collecting donations to help pay for a cement foundation that is expected to cost about $15,000.

Principal Dan Linford says the school is working to make sure the renovations to not alter the environment around the letter and hope to raise the needed money by mid-May.
