SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Utah Highway Patrol says nasty weather could be to blame for a pair of fatal accidents in the Salt Lake Valley.

The first of the crashes claimed the life of a man whose car slid into the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked horizontally near 700 South and 500 West about 4:30 a.m. Monday.

The patrol says the other one happened on I-215 west near 800 South when a car spun out and crashed into the center median.

KSL-TV reports (https://tinyurl.com/khu7lap) a second car then lost control and hit the first car, killing the driver of the first car.

The patrol says a combination of snow, rain and light slush probably played a role in about a half-dozen accidents in the valley between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m.
