COLUMBIA, N.C. (AP) - Tyrrell County officials say they have found the body of a man who fell off a boat in Alligator Creek.
Officials say the body of 57-year-old William Brookshire of Winterville was found shortly before noon Sunday.
Authorities were called shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday and told a man had fallen into the river.
Brookshire’s body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office.
The U.S. Coast Guard, the Tyrrell Fire Department, the sheriff’s office and emergency management office and the North Carolina Marine Patrol helped in the search.
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is investigating.
