NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The director of the Storm Prediction Center says the spring storm system that walloped Arkansas will continue moving eastward over the next few days, producing powerful storms with the potential for tornadoes.
Russell Schneider says the storm system that produced tornadoes killing more than a dozen people in Arkansas and Oklahoma on Sunday will move east on Monday to the Mississippi and Ohio River Valleys. The highest risk for damaging wind, large hail and tornadoes will be in middle Tennessee, Mississippi and northwest Alabama. The threat will continue across the Gulf Coast on Tuesday and through the Carolinas on Wednesday.
Schneider says strong tornadoes are possible each afternoon and evening.
He says the storm system will be one of the more powerful severe weather producers of the year.
