HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The newest state representative has been sworn into office, with only a week-and-a-half remaining in this year’s session of the Connecticut General Assembly.

Secretary of the State Denise Merrill administered the oath on Monday to Democrat Robyn Porter of New Haven, who recently won the 94th Assembly District. The seat, which includes portions of New Haven and Hamden, was previously held by Gary Holder-Winfield, now a state senator.

Holder-Winfield was elected to the 10th Senatorial District on Feb. 25, filling the seat vacated by Toni Harp, who was elected mayor of New Haven.

Porter, an administrative assistant with the Communication Workers of America, will hold the seat for the rest of the year. The seat will be up for grabs in the Nov. 4 general election.
