CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Department of Business and Industry is quietly honoring more than a dozen people who died in workplace accidents around the state last year.

A statement issued Monday comes on Workers’ Memorial Day, a day to reflect on workers who lost their lives while on the job.

According to the state Occupational Safety and Health Administration, 19 people were killed in work-related accidents in Nevada last year.

The Occupational Safety and Act was enacted 41 years ago, designed to protect workers from preventable hazards while on the job.
