RINGGOLD, Ga. (AP) - Emergency officials in one northwestern Georgia county say they’ve taken steps to ensure they’re prepared for severe weather after an EF4 tornado hit the area in April 2011.
WABE-FM reports (https://bit.ly/1fqtXnO ) Catoosa County officials have installed new weather sirens and established a text and email notification system to make sure residents are aware of potential for severe weather.
Forecasters said Monday that severe thunderstorms early this week may hit northwestern Georgia especially hard, and could produce isolated tornadoes.
Catoosa County Emergency Management Agency Deputy Director Clarence Muse says he’s more confident the county is ready to respond, and that people will be better informed about the storm.
Muse says the agency has also hosted disaster preparedness workshops and encouraged residents to participate in emergency preparation programs offered by the state.
