COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) - A 19-year-old college student is recovering from a gunshot wound suffered during an attempted robbery in a parking lot near a campus apartment complex in Council Bluffs.

No arrests have been reported since the crime Saturday afternoon near Reiver Village on the east side of Iowa Western Community College.

The Council Bluffs Police Department says the wounded student told officers that he and another student went to the lot to sell something to another man. The student said that when they got to the lot, two men got into their back seat. One of them soon brandished a gun and ordered the students to surrender their wallets. The student thought the gun was fake, so he wrestled with the man and was hit in the left arm when it fired.
