EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Two residence halls and six academic buildings at the College of New Jersey have reopened after a gas leak caused authorities to briefly evacuate the structures as a precaution.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred around 11:30 a.m. Monday at the school in Ewing Township. But the building closings forced the cancellation of several classes.

School officials said the leak occurred when a contractor working on the campus struck a gas main. All eight buildings were reopened about two hours after the leak was reported.

Roughly 400 students live in the two affected residence halls.
