RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Steve Beshear will pay a visit to a Richmond school for the ceremonial signing of a bill that the students played a role in.
Senate Bill 20 designates October as Anti-Bullying Month in Kentucky and specifies a purple and yellow ribbon as the symbol of anti-bullying awareness.
Students from Madison Middle School visited the Capitol when similar legislation was considered last year and passed out ribbons in purple and yellow, the school’s colors. They also met with lawmakers supporting the legislation.
Madison Middle students returned this year and again urged lawmakers to pass the legislation.
The ceremony is set for Monday at the school with Beshear and local officials.
