MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - State Department of Public Health officials say students from throughout Alabama will gather in Montgomery for a daylong peer empowerment conference.

Officials say Students Against Destructive Decisions involves young people who deliver education and prevention messages to help children and teens address issues like underage drinking, drug use and other risky behaviors. Department officials say SADD day is scheduled for May 1 at Auburn University’s Montgomery campus.

Officials say the event will feature presentations by several speakers and performances by Alabama SADD chapter members.
