MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) - A western Michigan woman has been ordered to spend up to 30 years in prison for trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/S2bWlB ) 46-year-old Diane Hart was sentenced Monday to between six and 30 years in prison. Her sister, Vickie Brill, is scheduled to be sentenced May 6 in the same case.

Both women pleaded no contest to solicitation to murder. The pleas aren’t an admission of guilt but are treated as such for sentencing.

Authorities say the Ravenna-area sisters sought to have Hart’s husband killed and met in a parking lot with an undercover state trooper. The meeting was videotaped.

Hart’s attorney Belinda Barbier says her client deserved a lighter sentence because she was only going along with Brill’s plan.
