GAGE, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico State Forestry official says a wildfire near the town of Gage is now fully contained.

Forestry spokesman Dan Ware says the Prom Fire reached 100 percent containment by Sunday afternoon.

Ware says the blaze, which had initially been estimated to be at least 2,000 acres in size, now appears to be about 1,000 acres.

He says Firefighters spent the day looking for hot spots against windy and dusty conditions.

Ware says the fire was human-caused investigators are still determining what led it it.

Gage is a small town of about 100 people west of the larger city of Deming.
