HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Attorneys involved in the case of a Fort Campbell soldier and his wife charged with murder in the death of their infant nephew say a deal in the works to resolve the case.

The Kentucky New Era reported (https://bit.ly/1nS6MT0 ) that lawyers are trying to cut short a trial scheduled to start Monday for Christopher and Joni Leutwyler of Oak Grove. The couple is charged with beating to death their 9-month-old nephew, Jack Stark, in 2010.

Neither the Leutwyler’s attorney nor the prosecutor would give details about the possible deal.

Police say the Leutwyler’s were babysitting Stark while his parents were visiting relatives in Texas. The boy was unconscious when he was taken to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell and later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
