ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A registered nurse in Albuquerque who provides care for children and teens is facing federal child pornography charges.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 44-year-old John Jaramillo is in federal custody pending a detention hearing Monday.
Jaramillo was arrested Thursday by Homeland Security Investigations agents.
According to a criminal complaint, New Mexico State Police began investigating Jaramillo in November 2013 after his residence was linked to a file-sharing network used to trade child pornography.
Jaramillo has been charged with receiving and possessing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Prosecutors say Jaramillo could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Authorities say Jaramillo works for two home healthcare providers giving children mental health and medical care.
