CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities in Dorchester County say a man shot a woman, then turned the gun on himself in what is being described as a domestic violence incident.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (https://bit.ly/1lgmyHK) sheriff’s Capt. Tony Phinney said deputies went to a home around 2 a.m. Saturday following a 911 call from a woman who went to a neighbor’s home seeking help. Phinney said the woman was taken to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Phinney said when deputies went inside the home where the shooting occured, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound.
S.C. Highway Patrol Lt. Kelly Hughes said the man was a basic training student in the patrol’s academy. He was scheduled to graduate on May 9.
