PICAYUNE, Miss. (AP) - A house fire in Picayune has killed a family of three.

Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage says 65-year-old Edward Louis Parker, 29-year-old Nancy Cooper and the couple’s 6-month old son, Jeremiah Parker Cooper, died of smoke inhalation early Saturday.

Firefighters were called to the family’s wood-frame home about 1 a.m.

A preliminary investigation showed a pot was left on a lit stove.
