DALY CITY, Calif. (AP) - Prosecutors say an elderly man shot at a San Francisco Bay Area doctor because he thought the doctor had given him pain medication that made him sick.
The San Mateo County Times reports (https://bit.ly/1nO64q4) that 84-year-old Raymond Iwase was charged on Friday with premeditated attempted murder and felony assault with a firearm.
Prosecutors say Iwase went to the doctor’s office in Daly City on Wednesday and opened fire after encountering the doctor in a hallway. The doctor ran away and called 911.
A SWAT team responded and evacuated the building.
San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe says the doctor had given Iwase a shot to manage pain, but then referred him to a pain management specialist. The doctor apparently never saw him again until Wednesday.
It was not immediately clear whether Iwase had an attorney.
