GREER, S.C. (AP) - The city of Greer is the latest in South Carolina to approve a ban on texting and emailing while driving.

The council voted 5-2 to ban texting in any vehicle that is moving. The ordinance takes effect July 1.

Council voted to allow exceptions for voice-activated technology.



State lawmakers are working on a bill that would apply statewide to deal with texting while driving.
