MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama appeals court has sided with a hospital in Foley in its efforts to expand its cardiac catheterization services.
The South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley received approval from the state Certificate of Need Review Board in 2012 to perform catheterizations in a second procedure room. Thomas Hospital in Fairhope objected and successfully challenged the state board’s decision in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
The Alabama Court of Civil Appeals on Friday decided 5-0 to reverse the circuit court’s decision against the Foley hospital.
The judges said there is substantial evidence indicating a need for a second cardiac catheterization lab at the Foley hospital.
