HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Students will pay 4 percent to 6 percent more to attend Marshall University.

The tuition increases are part of a fiscal year 2015 budget adopted by the university’s Board of Governors on Wednesday.

Tuition will increase by $155 per semester for full-time, in-state students, $290 per semester for out-of-state students and $325 per semester for students in the metro areas in Kentucky and Ohio. Similar increases were approved for graduate students, with a few exceptions in the professional schools.

Marshall President Stephen J. Kopp says the increases are necessary because the state has reduced support by nearly $900 per student over the past two years.
