ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) - A Texas man faces second-degree assault charges after allegedly striking a bicyclist while driving drunk.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (bit.ly/1iiq58K ) reports that 47-year-old David E. Walker of Plano is accused of hitting 39-year-old cyclist Jeffrey Weckerherlin Wednesday evening on Missouri Highway 94.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says Weckerherlin suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.



Walker was jailed on a $50,000 cash-only bond. The assault charge incorporates his operation a motor vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in injury.
