BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Baker man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and attempted murder charges in a 2011 slaying outside a nightclub.
The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1jFyWNd ) 29-year-old Anthony Armstead was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Wednesday.
Armstead was accused of fatally shooting 28-year-old Arthur Johnson in the parking lot of Club Tri-Ambient on June 30, 2011, after an argument.
Police said Armstead fired another shot that struck a woman in the parking lot.
Another man’s cellphone was shot off his hip, but he was not injured.
Armstead was standing trial in state District Judge Don Johnson’s courtroom on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder when he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and both attempted murder counts.
