SANDERSVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Sandersville alderman Bob White has been elected mayor in a special runoff election Tuesday.

WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg reports (https://bit.ly/1noAbqL ) White defeated Darlene Hill, the widow of the former Sandersville mayor, in complete, but unofficial, returns.

The election was made necessary after the death of Mayor Jimmy Hill in February. White has been acting mayor for the city.



White will complete Hill’s term.
