CHICAGO (AP) - A suburban man has filed a federal lawsuit claiming Illinois State Police had unconstitutionally denied him a permit to carry a concealed gun.

The Chicago Sun-Times (https://bit.ly/1icYRQN ) reports that 69-year-old John Berron of Skokie sued after receiving a letter last Month that explained the Illinois Concealed Carry Commission received an objection to his application and found that he wasn’t eligible for a permit.

Berron’s attorney J.D. Obenberger says Berron wasn’t given a reason for the denial but the Sun-Times reports that court records show he has been convicted of misdemeanor charges of resisting a police officer and criminal damage to property.

Berron claims that denying his application without letting him present his case to the licensing board is a violation of his right to due process.
