GLEN JEAN, W.Va. (AP) - The National Park Service says a wildfire in the New River Gorge National River is 75 percent contained.
Park ranger Lean Perkowski-Sisk says favorable weather conditions have enabled firefighting crews to make significant progress on the fire, which was reported Sunday in the Endless Wall portion of the gorge. It has burned about 130 acres.
Perkowski-Sisk says crews completed containment lines on the north and south sides of the fire and will ensure that remaining hot spots inside the perimeter are extinguished.
She says the fire was caused by human activity and remains under investigation.
