GLEN COVE, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man has been sentenced to one year in jail for having sex with a 13-year-old girl he met on Facebook.
Tereso Ruiz-Hernandez, of Bayville, had pleaded guilty to second-degree rape and criminal sexual act charges after his arrest in August.
He was sentenced Tuesday.
Authorities say he lied to the victim about his age and gave her alcohol before having sex with her in a car in Glen Cove.
According to Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1iK6nkY0 ), the judge told Ruiz-Hernandez that he would likely be deported after serving his sentence.
The defense attorney said in court that his client emigrated from El Salvador in 2005.
