BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - State wildlife and fisheries agents cited a Dubach man for alleged turkey hunting and trespassing charges in Union Parish.

On Saturday, agents cited 40-year-old Anthony J. Lewis for intentional concealment of wildlife evidence, failing to comply with turkey tagging requirements, hunting turkeys with no basic hunting and big game licenses and turkey stamp, criminal trespassing and operating an All-Terrain Vehicle on a public road.

Agents received an anonymous complaint about Lewis hunting on private property without permission near Dubach. When agents arrived, Lewis wasn’t in the area but they spotted him driving the ATV. After a brief pursuit, agents stopped him and Lewis admitted dumping a harvested turkey in a field. After finding the bird, they cited Lewis who faces up to $950 in fines and 120 days in jail for intentional concealment of wildlife evidence.

Failing to comply with turkey tagging requirements and hunting without a big game license each carry up to a $350 fine and 90 days in jail. Hunting turkey without a turkey stamp and basic hunting license each bring up to a $50 fine and 15 days in jail. Criminal trespassing carries up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine.

Operating an ATV on a public road brings up to a $175 fine and 30 days in jail.
