FORREST CITY, Ark. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a person was found dead inside of a burned car in St. Francis County.
Sheriff Bobby May says the burned vehicle was found Monday morning on a rural bridge over the St. Francis River. May says the vehicle was not on fire when authorities arrived, but smoke could be seen coming from it.
The sheriff says authorities believe they know who the victim is but they’re awaiting a positive identification from the Arkansas Crime Lab, along with a cause of death.
May tells The Times-Herald (https://bit.ly/QExZ0h ) that investigators believe the case is a homicide but they’re awaiting autopsy results to confirm that.
