PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The man accused of wounding a Portland police officer and killing his dog has pleaded not guilty to charges that include attempted aggravated murder.
The Oregonian reports that a lawyer for 20-year-old Paul Ropp entered not guilty pleas on his behalf Monday to charges that also included aggravated animal abuse, assault and burglary.
Police say Ropp was one of three men involved in a crime spree that ended last Wednesday morning when their vehicle crashed in a chase.
Police say Ropp ran and exchanged gunfire with Officer Jeffrey Dorn, who was wounded in both legs. Dorn’s K-9 partner Mick was fatally shot.
