MINTURN, Colo. (AP) - A rockslide that brought down more than 150 tons of rock onto a roadway early Tuesday has closed U.S. Highway 24 near Minturn.

The rockslide occurred about halfway between Minturn and Redcliff and caused significant damage.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says there is no estimate when the highway will reopen.

The department says geologists are assessing the safety of surrounding areas, including rocks directly above the slide area.
