LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Calcasieu Parish residents will have a chance to share their input and preferences on the selection of the new school superintendent.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) the search committee meets May 1 to receive that input.

R.L. Webb, search committee chairman, says he wants to give the public a chance to tell the committee what they want in a superintendent.

Webb says people who wish to address the committee should arrive at the school board’s central office early. He says each speaker will have a few minutes to speak.

The school board is hoping to have the new superintendent in office by Aug. 1. Superintendent Wayne Savoy announced in January that he plans to retire at the end of the year.
