CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island teacher is free on $2,500 bail following her arrest on charges she was driving while impaired during a hit-and-run crash.
Tracey Forman pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Tuesday.
Suffolk County police arrested the 47-year-old at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of Center Moriches (mohr-IH’-chihz) High School.
Police say she crashed into an unoccupied van on the way to school.
Forman is charged with leaving the scene and driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol.
Her attorney and school officials declined comment.
Prosecutors say Forman had a prior arrest in December on a charge of shoplifting $347 in merchandise from a department store. Those charges were to be dropped in August if she avoided further arrest.
