SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco fire officials say a three-alarm blaze has been knocked down after destroying one house, damaging two others and leaving one firefighter with minor burns.

Sylvia Rivera, a fire spokeswoman, says crews responded to a fire at a duplex around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the city’s Duboce Triangle neighborhood.

Rivera says firefighters asked for a second alarm when the roof collapsed and called for a third alarm as flames began spreading to a second building by 2 p.m. A third building was damaged as flames spread due to heavy winds.

The fire was under control by 3 p.m.

Deputy Fire Chief Mark Gonzales says one firefighter was taken to a local hospital with minor hand burns from melting tar that fell through a roof.

No other injuries were reported.
