CREEDMOOR, N.C. (AP) - An elderly couple has died after an early-morning house fire in rural Granville County.
The fire was reported by a passer-by about 2 a.m. Tuesday at a home outside Creedmore.
Authorities say that 77-year-old Madelene Long died at the scene. Her husband, 88-year-old Sam Long, died later at Granville Medical Center. Sam Long had been pulled from the house by the man who reported the blaze.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
