Woman’s body found in Kishwaukee River

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - Northern Illinois authorities are investigating after a kayaker found a woman’s body in the Kishwaukee (kish WAHW’-kee) River.

A kayaker found the woman’s body Sunday afternoon in the Kishwaukee Gorge Forest Preserve. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified her as 46-year-old Beverly Janet Gitzmaker.

Officials say results were inconclusive after an autopsy. There will be further forensic studies.
