ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - One of the couples involved in a lawsuit that is challenging Florida’s ban on same-sex marriage, is attending the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

Melanie and Vanessa Alenier are attending Monday’s event with their son. The event is hosted by the first family.

The same-sex marriage challenge was filed in Miami-Dade Circuit Court in January on behalf of six couples by Equality Florida Institute Inc., a civil rights organization that works for fairness for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

The lawsuit claims Florida’s gay marriage ban violates the U.S. Constitution’s guarantees of equal protection and due process.
