NEW YORK (AP) - Repair on a stretch of Rockaway boardwalk destroyed by Superstorm Sandy is slated to begin this week.
The Daily News (https://nydn.us/QqRIRt ) says crews will begin demolishing some of the concrete piles between Beach 86th Street and Beach 97th Street as early as Monday.
First Deputy Parks Commissioner told the News that the first section could be completed by Memorial Day 2015.
By summer, the city hopes to start work on a section from Beach 97th Street to Beach 106th Street.
The project has been delayed several times as the city sought permit approvals.
