ND gets fed grant to address low-achieving schools

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota is among 10 states getting more than $95 million from the federal government to address low-achieving schools.

The money is through the Department of Education’s School Improvement Grants program. North Dakota is getting $1.1 million.

Federal Education Secretary Arne Duncan says in a statement that when schools fail, children and neighborhoods suffer. He says turning around low-achieving schools helps provide a better education for students who need it most.
