Man dies in accident on I-10 in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Gulfport police say a 55-year-old man has died in an accident on Interstate 10.

Sgt. Damon McDaniel tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1h3XdPL ) the accident happened just before 7 p.m. Sunday.

McDaniel says the driver of an SUV was trying to pass traffic on the right shoulder when he lost control of his vehicle. The SUV flipped several times and the driver was ejected.

Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

McDaniel said no other vehicles were involved and the accident is under investigation.
