BRUSH, Colo. (AP) - The Morgan County coroner says a 4-year-old boy died of smoke inhalation and burns in a house fire and he has ruled the death an accident.

Coroner Don Heer on Monday identified the victim as Andrew Clemons.

Authorities say they tried to rescue the boy who was trapped in the basement of a home near Brush on Sunday, but they were unsuccessful.

Morgan County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jim Crone says the boy’s mother, a 5-year-old sibling, grandmother and aunt were in the house when the fire broke out, but they managed to escape.
