ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Roanoke’s prosecutor says charges won’t be pursued against the drivers involved in two separate fatal pedestrian accidents.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Donald Caldwell tells The Roanoke Times (https://bit.ly/RBF0Qy ) that both accidents occurred at night during bad weather. He says each driver stopped, assisted and remained at the scene.
A vehicle struck and killed 63-year-old Ruth Mary Keniston on Nov. 15, 2013, as she was crossing a road to catch a bus.
Sixty-seven-year-old Gerald Schertz was hit by a vehicle as he walked to his office on Nov. 26, 2013. He died three days later.
Meanwhile, police are continuing to search for the driver of a pickup truck that struck and killed Christine Willis Turner on Oct. 29, 2013. The truck fled the scene.
