BASTROP, La. (AP) - The Morehouse Parish School Board has voted on a plan to tackle its $3.4 million deficit for the upcoming operating year.
The final cost-reduction plan includes closing Southside Elementary School, reducing the workforce and moving to a four-day work week.
The board’s decisions merged plans from Superintendent George Noflin and community members that have been in the making since October.
The News-Star reports (https://tnsne.ws/1gOaDzB ) Tuesday night’s meeting lasted about three hours as the board voted on the plan in five phases.
The plan calls for reducing staff by 32.
