PORT JEFFERSON, N.Y. (AP) - Service on Long Island Rail Road’s Port Jefferson Branch has been restored after a person was struck by a train. The railroad says there may be some residual delays.
A railroad spokesman says the accident occurred east of the Smithtown station early Wednesday morning.
All service was suspended for about two hours between Port Jefferson and Huntington.
The condition of the victim and the time of the accident were not immediately known.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority police are investigating the accident.
